My (Social) Life

The author kind of points out the obvious here to anyone who knows that SEO and social media marketing each takes time and resources; but, there are a great many execs out there who think it should be as easy as slapping up some keyword-stuffed articles, geting a few inbound links or “landing a page, link, or article on the front page of Digg or Reddit.”

Unfortunately, there are some social media marketing firms out there that lead their clients to believe the same thing. All ya gotta do is create a few profiles on Twitter, Facebook, etc. and hey presto - you’re marketing with social media! It’s not that easy at all. These firms should be creating viable social media marketing plans outlining the what, why, who, when and how. They must also spend time training their clients on the right way to use social media to talk to customers and gleen useful information for helping those customers and improving the product.
